Kurt Angle is no longer under contract with WWE as he was furloughed by the company back in April due to budget cuts related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Before being let go, he had been working as a backstage producer after retiring from in-ring action at WrestleMania 35 when he lost to Baron Corbin.
Angle has recently confirmed that WWE pitched him a new role in the company a few months ago, but he decided to turn it down.
While doing an interview with Pwinsider, the WWE Hall of Famer was asked about the possibility of working with AEW.
“I love AEW, you know, I love what they’ve been doing, I think they’ve got a lot of great young talent, they’ve done an excellent job so far. Would I be interested in doing it? I don’t know, I don’t have plans on wrestling.
Every once in a while I do something for WWE, I kinda like that. Maybe somewhere along the line I might do something for AEW but I don’t have any plans to do that.”
Angle continued by noting that he wants to move on with his life just like he did when he left amateur wrestling as he never looked back. He considers himself to be someone who puts a career behind him and then continues on with something else.
Angle also talked about his decision to retire from in-ring action, Corbin not being his ideal final opponent, and more. Check out the full interview here.
